HISTORY OF OCS
In 1983, Rev. Nick Harris was called as pastor of the Ovilla Road Baptist Church. From that point, he and the church began praying for the day when a school could be founded that would teach all disciplines from the perspective of God’s Word and be a help to parents as they rear their children in the knowledge of the Lord. Those prayers were answered in the fall of 1992 with the first class of nine K-5 students. The school system of four-year-old kindergarten through twelfth grade was completed in the 1997-1998 school year.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
For the certain preservation and security of the principles, philosophy, and mission of Ovilla Christian School; and to the end that this educational institution may provide instruction in a like manner consistent with the accepted tenents of the Holy Scripture; and for the purpose of integrity and unity within the body of believers God has brought together to teach and train Ovilla Christian School students; we as employees of OCS, do hereby declare and adhere to the following statement of faith:
Ovilla Christian School is dually-accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International (grades K5–12) and AdvancED accreditation. Accreditations are an educational institution's way of verifying the quality of learning standards within the school's campus. With these accreditations our high school diploma is recognized by the state of Texas and every college or university in the United States. OCS is also a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).
The teachers at Ovilla Christian School are committed to helping parents prepare their children for life. Each has completed the necessary college training to teach students in their respective areas of assignment. Each has ascribed verbally and in writing to the Statement of Faith of Ovilla Road Baptist Church and the Mission Statement of Ovilla Christian School. OCS teachers have the students’ best interest at heart and stand willing to assist parents in fulfilling the God-given responsibility for educating their children. The relationship of the school and the home becomes one of sharing and caring about the mutual benefit of each. Thirty-seven full-time and 4 part-time faculty members represent a variety of academic credentials and denominational backgrounds. All faculty members (with the exception of K4 teachers) possess college degrees and 30% possess post-graduate degrees.

Volunteer Opportunities at OCS
The Parent Teacher Fellowship is organized for the purpose of creating a closer relationship between the home and school, strengthening the parent’s realization of their biblical responsibilities, and encouraging cooperation with the teachers in the education of their children. Meeting dates and programs are announced during the year.
All grades are now arriving and leaving school at the same time. The students arrive at 8 AM and leave at 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. No longer will students have a half day on Friday.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
Before school care is available beginning at 7:15 am. After school care is available until 6:00 pm Monday – Friday. There is an additional fee for afterschool care.
MASCOT & COLORS
The mascot of Ovilla Christian School is the Eagle. The Eagle symbolizes the Christian’s ability to rise above the power of sin, self, hell and the grave because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.
Within the emblem, there are three words which describe the purpose and direction for building character in the lives of OCS students. These areas are the basis of the total instructional program of OCS. The areas and their prescribed qualities are 1) what a student must know—based on Faith, 2) what a student must do—based on Integrity, and 3) who a student must be– based on Purity. When these three areas are established in a student, they will soar like eagles and be “prepared for life.”
Grading periods for grades K4 – 12 are in nine-week increments. Progress reports and report cards are viewable for grades 1 – 12 via Renweb School Software.
