SECONDARY PART-TIME ART TEACHER

At Ovilla Christian School, we believe our students bear God’s image and so can mirror aspects of His creativity; therefore, the arts can play an important role in the discipleship of the Christian student.  A secondary art teacher must empower students to explore life, relationships, and ideas. The art teacher must engage and motivate all students through active learning, critical thinking, and innovative problem solving. A secondary art teacher guides students as they develop aesthetic and cultural awareness through exploration, leading to creative expression. The art teacher is responsible for the following strands of education in the visual arts: observation and perception, creative expression, historical and cultural relevance, and critical evaluation and response. The art teacher will teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, the elements of art, the principles of design, and art history. The art teacher will assume responsibility for the storage and care of materials, tools, and equipment, and instruct students in their proper care. The art teacher will regularly plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit student work for the school and the community. The art teacher will promote, coordinate, and provide all necessary support for student participation in TAPPS, ACSI, and other competitions, festivals, and shows.

The part-time secondary art teacher will be assigned 2-3 sections of art instruction for grades 6-12

ELEMENTARY PART-TIME PIANO TEACHER

At Ovilla Christian School, we believe our students bear God’s image and so can mirror aspects of His creativity; therefore, the arts can play an important role in the discipleship of the Christian student. The elementary music teacher facilitates student growth in enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through planned music experiences. The piano teacher works with the elementary music teacher to plan and execute a balanced music program and organizes class time so that instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. The piano teacher provides individual and small group piano instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil. The elementary music teacher and piano teacher utilize a repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils. The elementary music teacher and piano teacher assume responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to maintain quality and prevent loss and abuse. The elementary music teacher and piano teacher assess each pupil’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding.

The part-time piano teacher will be assigned a schedule of 1 day each week of piano instruction for grades 1-5.

Substitute Teaching

Love for students and learning is required. 
Degree not required.  Must meet faith and character standards along with complete background check.
